Ready to Run Your Own Pub?

If you're ready to take the leap and become a Stonegate Pub Partner, you've come to the right place. To help you understand what to expect from our recruitment process, we've outlined a general step-by-step guide below. Please note that each candidate's journey is unique, and specific timelines and processes may vary.

1. Choosing Your Perfect Pub

Begin your journey by selecting a pub that aligns with your skills, personality, and desired lifestyle. Explore our diverse range of pubs on our website and consider the style that best suits your vision.

2. Getting Started

Once you've chosen a pub, apply directly on our website and visit it to experience the atmosphere firsthand. A Recruitment Partner will then be in touch to discuss your application and learn more about your ideas.

3. The Application Process

If your application progresses, you'll receive pub business facts and meet with the Regional Manager for an initial interview, either over the phone or in person. After the interview, we'll outline the next steps towards securing your own pub, including potential invitations to continue your application or suggestions for alternative pubs.

For your chosen pub, you'll be invited to our online onboarding platform to monitor your application progress and upload necessary documentation. This is also where you'll start planning your business, including developing a marketing plan and a detailed business plan with an accountant.

4. Agreeing Your Terms

A final interview with an Operational Director will follow, where you'll present your business plan for your chosen pub. After discussing your plan with the Regional Manager, you'll agree on terms that best suit your new pub business, summarised in a Pre-contract Form for both parties to sign.

5. Preparing for Your First Day

As you prepare for your first day as a publican, you'll agree on a handover date with the Regional Manager to sign your agreement and place your initial drinks order. You'll also attend a two-day publican induction to learn about essential topics like safety, legal practices, recruitment and cellar management.

To ensure a smooth start, we offer 'off the shelf' pub opening packages that can be personalised for your pub, including a free website. Your Regional Manager will be there to support you every step of the way, especially during your initial months, to set you up for long-term success.
