The Kings Arms is an award winning traditional cask ale house located on the periphery of central Sunderland. The Kings Arms is on a small local circuit and is popular with football fans when Sunderland are playing, the Stadium of Light is circa 1/2 mile away.
The Kings Arms is a one-roomed operation with an L-shaped bar. The original wood panelled servery benefits from a central position within the room and is dominated by hand pulls to support the popular cask ale offer. A very well-presented pub, the décor is traditional and typical of an ale house, therefore adding to the character and charm here. Beautiful tall windows at the front of the building create a light and airy feel and there is a traditional offering of both fixed and loose seating, with a wooden floor around the bar and cosy carpeted areas. There are several large screen televisions, popular for showing live sports and in turn attracting local sports enthusiasts primarily for football. The Kings Arms has been known to hold live music entertainment, and with consideration from the new operator this could be an additional revenue stream.
An enclosed courtyard is located to the rear of the building. with an undercover area enabling year round use of this area. Although the Kings Arms doesn’t have its own dedicated car park, there is ample roadside parking in the surrounding streets.
