The George offers the best of both worlds, effortlessly blending traditional charm with modern versatility. On the ground floor, the pub retains its original features, creating an authentic and welcoming atmosphere. It’s the ideal spot to enjoy a carefully curated selection of real ales and other drinks, whether you’re catching up with friends or enjoying a competitive game of darts.

Upstairs, you’ll find a spacious sports bar that doubles as a versatile function room, with a total capacity of up to 160 guests. This adaptable space is perfect for hosting private events, celebrations, and live sports viewings, and it also features an additional three darts boards making it a hub for both casual players and serious enthusiasts.

The George has a strong connection to the local community, particularly among rugby fans, and regularly attracts a lively crowd on match days. Its unique character has also earned it a place on the big screen, featuring in productions such as Enola Holmes 2.

Steeped in history, the pub is renowned for its striking architecture, including a truly distinctive feature: the smallest window in Europe. Originally used by the gatekeeper, this tiny opening allowed for discreet observation of approaching customers and stagecoaches, adding to the building’s rich and fascinating story.

Whether you’re visiting for a relaxed drink, a social game, or a special event, The George delivers a memorable experience in a setting full of heritage and character.
