Welcome Yates, Torquay to the Craft Union family!

Welcome Yates, Torquay to the Craft Union family!

We are thrilled to announce that another fantastic pub has opened its doors, ready to serve the community and join the Craft Union family. The latest pub to become part of our portfolio is none other than Yates Torquay.

A rich History at Yates, Torquay

Yates Torquay stands proudly on a historic site with a rich past. Originally, this location was home to ‘The Royal,’ which replaced the London Inn in the early 1800s. The pub is housed in a beautiful old Georgian building adorned with elegant, moulded stonework. Known as the Royal Hotel from 1833 to 1997, it was named in honour of a visit by Princess (and future Queen) Victoria.

Nestled on Torquay's picturesque harbourfront, Yates offers stunning views that complement its storied past. Torquay, a vibrant seaside town on Devon's renowned English Riviera coast, is famous for its charming atmosphere and scenic beauty. Located 18 miles south of Exeter and 28 miles east-north-east of Plymouth, Torquay is a beloved holiday destination known for its attractions and rich heritage.

Meet the Operator: Tracie

The new operator Yates Torquay is Tracie, a seasoned pub manager with years of experience. Together with her partner Pete, Tracie is excited to dive into this new venture. Tracie is no stranger to the Craft Union community, having successfully run the George IV in Lichfield and the Swan Inn in Studley. Her expertise and enthusiasm are sure to make Yates Torquay a beloved spot for both locals and tourists.

What’s new at Yates Torquay?

To ensure Yates Torquay meet the high standards of our brand, we’ve undertaken several enhancements:

  • Exterior and Interior Décor: The pub has undergone minor exterior decorative works to create a fresh and inviting look. Inside, various areas have been redecorated to provide a clean and welcoming atmosphere throughout.

  • Enhanced Amenities: To cater to our customers' love for games, we've added a new pool table and a darts board at the rear of the pub. This provides a perfect setting for friendly competitions.

  • Bar Area Improvements: The main bar area has been revamped by removing the overbars to improve visibility and accessibility for customers. The back fitting has also been updated, allowing Tracie to showcase premium products more effectively.

  • Viewing Experience: Already benefiting from good quality viewing areas, Yates Torquay now features additional large TVs in the rear area, enhancing the viewing experience for all our patrons.

Feeling inspired? We’re always looking for passionate and dedicated pub operators to join our family. Discover how you can become part of our journey and make a difference in your community by joining Craft Union today.
